Actually, it was Easter that fell on Transgender Day of Visibility not the other way around. Besides next year Easter falls on April 20th or 4/20 (Weed Day). Can't wait for the hues & cries over that one. 😁

I find it confusing how Christian rejection began by focusing on gay men (including brutal chemical castration), but in general, the religious right seemed less worried about lesbians, didn't target women the way they did gay men. Lesbians don't hang out in their locker rooms making them feel skittish, I guess. Or perhaps Christian conservatives figured they could easily 're-educate' those wayward women?

Then, as gay men became much more established, and so many came out of the closet (even Thiel), all that angst fell away, and there was an interesting shift to focus on transgender women and Drag Queens--but once again, not so much transgender men. Are young women less important to the Christian conservative twisted agenda?

Perhaps the revulsion Christian conservatives show against transgender women is so strong because it is a man giving up power, an absolutely unforgiveable betrayal to the male gender. Perhaps in their view transgender men are doing something Christian men see as misguided but natural--reaching for power that as women they are denied.

All of this is tied up in the belief that men should be in charge of women and women are lesser beings. All of it.

Enforcing a rigid gender binary is essential to propping up the evangelical ideal of submissive women led by dominant men. Erase the idea that there are clear lines between what men & women are like, and you undermine their explanation for why each is designed only for specific roles - with women always in the “lesser” roles.

Maybe I’m just a naive cis-gal, but Transgender Day of Visibility gives me hope that transgender liberation is going to be the key to liberating *all* of us from the patriarchy for good. 🏳️‍⚧️🩵🩷🤍

To all White Nationalist Christians: God does not make mistakes. He made every one of us - heterosexual, homosexual, binary, trans, queer, gay, lesbian, blue-haired or white-haired, Black-, Brown-, or White-skinned - in His image. God is so big that He can be all these things and love all these things. One of Jesus's teachings was to love God and each other as He loved us. Why can't we?

Men didn't have a problem with lesbians because of their dark little fantasy of seeing two women get it on but with two men , these jerks did not think that gay men were manly enough! I don't give a crap who anyone loves as long as it is consensual and does not involve children and /or animals ! So love who you love , be happy and live your lives !

So now the extreme christian right conspirators have invented Biden’s War on Easter to go along with their accusing Democrats and the left for a War on Christmas. So they’re up to two days. Only 363 more to go before matching their own 365 days of war on American Democracy and Freedom, which unlike the right’s conspiracies are real.

James Lindsay - “Pray also for those professing Christianity, but not practicing it…”

I would suggest that dude go re-read “The Sermon on the Mount” - and then take a look in the mirro . These folks always have an “interpretation” of what the Words of the Savior “really mean.” No, dopey - it means exactly what it says, and you are just uncomfortable with what that ACTUALLY is.

Senator Warnock said it perfectly.

You are so correct: “Another day, another manufactured right-wing controversy.” I suggest we have national conspiracy theory Remembrance Day, but for the MAGA crowd, that would be every day. Than you for drawing together this great collection of information on this.

Because they don't know how the Christian calendar works?

Not only are certain people unable to read, they also, apparently, do not know how the calendar works.

Ideologies are, by definition, false. An ideology begins with an idea that is contrary to reality, and then makes reality fit that idea—which always demands force.

President Biden did not declare Transgender Day of Visibility to be on Easter. The date to celebrate Transgender Visibility is March 31st every year. Easter just happened to fall on March 31st this year, but Easter is not a fixed date.

Thank you for your in-depth report on this unhappy topic.

It is time for Jesus to report a case of “identity theft.” He has been hijacked and is being held at gunpoint.

Transgender Day of Visibility has been on March 31 since 2009. Enforcing a rigid gender binary adds to HATE and cruel misunderstanding. So Easter happened to fall on Transgender Day of Visibility, not vice versa. As for Christianity promoting an agenda of HATE, nothing could be farther from the teachings of Jesus Christ as either a human or a God. Fact.
