Let's ask that question another

way: Will enough Republicans find a spine, to ensure that Jr. gets nowhere near the agencies that safeguard our nation's health?

We all know the answer. This is all political theater where we already know the ending.

Yup, considering they passed Hegseth - the answer is "no". So far. They are free to prove us wrong ANY TIME.

If enough Republican Senators pay attention to Caroline's scathing takedown of her cousin, then we won't have to suffer through 4 years of a disaster waiting to happen. This man is a ticking time bomb!

Thank you, Caroline Kennedy, for speaking out loudly and clearly against your cousin. Now she has set herself up--as does everyone who has the courage to speak out against Dumpster and his nominees--for threats from the Magats. Truly a profile in courage.

LOL! You're right! Fortunately for him, he is no longer with us on earth, so he needn't be aware of this.

Oh yes…

We all also need to make it very clear that when Republicans confirm these unqualified nominees, everything that Cabinet members do that causes harm to people and countries will be hung around their necks. They will pay the price, not Trump (lame duck) and not Musk (who doesn't care and doesn't have to care).

Only if Democrats have the courage to do the hanging. They redeemed themselves a bit today, but they've been pretty spineless up till now.

OK. I'm going "full Jeff" here, so apologies in advance: WHAT THE FUCK does "he did what he needed to do" mean???

Expand full comment

I hope so. This man is a walking, talking disaster.

Couldn't even leave a voice mail at McConnell's number.

One of the other offices -- can't remember if it was Collins or Murkowski -- reported "a very high volume of calls." Hm, wonder why.

Let's keep it up -- Kennedy must be shown the door.

Then we have to do it all again to keep Patel out. And then do it again to keep Gabbard out.

I know my hoping may be a long shot with this sold-out republican led Senate, but I am really hoping that the terrible plane crash last night wakes enough of them up(after all, they all use Reagan to fly home)to the jarring facts of what happens when their idiot leader(and his buddy Elon)is turned loose to run things “his” way with “his” people. These Senators know full well that confirming these three will be disastrous in so many ways as have the decisions prior to this heart-breaking crash have shown.

Expand full comment

I’ll hope with you, but without feeling convinced that they won’t a) buy whatever tr says b) not care about the heartbreak c) believe that action will be taken to keep the airways safe.

Jr's hearings were nothing more than going through the motions.. a complete joke, just like Pete Hegseth's confirmation. We're so F'd.

Expand full comment

I'm terrified he'll get confirmed regardless. He will be responsible for many people's, especially children's, deaths if he is confirmed!

Expand full comment

Don’t count on it Hegseth was confirmed and shouldn’t have been either. Soo I’m not holding my breath that jr doesn’t get confirmed 😡🤬🤦🏼‍♀️

If I could choose one nomination to scuttle, then it would still be Patel.

I call Budd and Tillis every day. And now Tillis introduced him. After he lied in the process of the Hegspeth nomination. Not a first for him, but still reprehensible.

I was SO, SO hoping that Tillis would do himself proud with hedgehog. Honestly, I was stunned when he caved.

I am not.

I just sent letters, with many details about his sociopathic behaviors, to both of my Senators regarding $kash. It won't make any difference. I'm in SC and am stuck with the nasty lindsey and impotent scott.

Still keep writing. I grant thee three rounds of kudos!

Thank you, Joe. I must admit, I am exhausted -- not so much by the letters themselves, but by the fact that I must waste so much of my life trying to clean up other people's disastrous messes. (Didn't mention the unread, unheard pleas I sent to my useless senators about the ghastly hedgehog -- and those that will have to be sent about bambi. I'm emotionally worn out.)

Yes. My ire is for my progressive and nearly useless Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. I now know four of her staff across the District and DC offices. One pointed to press releases. Tonite I left a extremely unhappy message on her voicemail about Prez Elon taking over the OMB HR office/room.

Although I have yet to go to the District office in person to request a meeting with staff that will say something more, maybe I need to.

Cassidy voted to convict on the second impeachment. I trust that he will keep his medical vow to "do no harm".

I don't think Trump will shed any tears if the Kennedy nomination goes down. He made a deal with RFK Jr.: If Bobby would drop out of the race and endorse him, he would nominate Bobby for a big position. But if the nomination goes down, Trump can just say "I kept my end of the deal but unfortunately you couldn't get yourself through the Senate. Have a nice life!" Then Trump would nominate someone who was just a bit less cray-cray and move on.

Yes, he'd move on to Dr. Phil. Egads!!!
