The EU, or at least some countries in it, are actually a good model to understand what's going on. The US currently has the equivalent of three or four or five parties. The unFreedom caucus is roughly the equivalent of Germany's AfD or Italy's Five Stars or France's Le Pen. Or in the past (mathematically, not politcally) the equivalent of Germany's FDP or Green party. All tiny majorities (at the time), but with dramatically outsized influence because nobody is able to build a majority without them.
