I have to admit to having felt a bit of schadenfreude watching that first hearing on "weaponization" where they essential called a knife fight but brought only pool noodles, while AOC brought a brace of swords.

Jeff Tiedrich made absolute mincemeat out of Jordan in his Substack [everyone is entitled to my own opinion] piece yesterday. Unlike his usual liberal use of profanity, this time he restrained himself. His best line was his last: "seriously, Jim, there must be an easier way to make a complete ass of yourself."

My only hesitation is that if Ol' Kev loses the gavel, who'll take it up next? The devil you know and all that. On the other hand, the person who does will probably take more than 15 rounds of voting to win, and that might be something to look forward to watching, especially if it's right around the debt ceiling deadline. We'll have '24 in the bag after that.

I think that the Republican Party is demonstrating a consistent set of principles that are stated in one form or another every time they make an announcement, official of "off the record". It is to categorically oppose anything proposed by the Democratic Party, to assign blame for every conceivable adverse circumstance, including the weather, on the opposing party, and to continue to dodge their obligation to do what they were elected to do, which is to produce legislation in good faith that addresses issues facing the country. Press conferences and committee hearings are not their primary duty, in spite of what their actions suggest. I think we may be witnessing the first phase of a 2 year filibuster against the leadership mandate that comes with winning the majority of seats in the House. I'm anxiously awaiting the first single-member call for McCarthy's resignation from the Speaker's chair. That'll be the first act in the next Kabuki theater production that is substituting for a legislative session.

I don’t think that any other GOP member would be able to secure a majority to win the speakership. The D’s may be able to convince a more moderate GOP member to run and back him with their votes. That would eliminate the minority quacks from their seat of power over the House Speaker.
Thank you for summarizing the GQP clown car's "results" in the first 100 days.
I expected epic incompetence, endless lies, and non-stop ass-holery (prolly not a word, but it sounds like it should be), and these seem like the only places that the GQP clown car has been able to "succeed" (that and despicable racism, bigotry, and overt misogyny).
The "record" of this congress of scumwads needs to be publicized regularly.
Sorry Jay, but I had to jump in w/a change of subject. Did Dominion really sell out, and settle w/Fox??? And not have all the traitors face the public w/the truth of their transgressions??? How could they do that? Didn't they realize they had 75-80% of the people on their side, waiting to hear the truth and the whole truth???

Pool noodles! Lol
Schadenfreude. I learned that word watching Avenue Q on Broadway!
It is one of my favorite words!

Jim makes an easy target, but it is so gratifying to see him flounder.
I have to laugh, with a tinge of sadness for the circumstances, but honestly, I'd like to see him go out like Kahn.
I respectfully disagree. I firmly believe there’s some bright spots 100 days into the McCarthy/GOP term:
1) There’s now only 631 days left for the GOP majority as we’ve survived 14% of their bumbling;
2) McCarthy has even less time left, as the F**kdom caucus is probably going to set up a no confidence vote; and
3) Americans can see that the GOP has become a party of clowns, with focus on their party clown car and who will be next for their 5 minutes of shame.

Oh, you nearly got me!

As long as it’s not what’s-her-name from GA or what’s-his-face from FL.
I think at least half of the House GOP would rather vote for a rabid 🦝 than Ms Jewish Space Laser or Jeff Epstein’s FL friend.
Let's call it like it is: Congresswoman Taylor Greene is the TRUE Speaker.
Horrifying but perhaps true.

What is the noun form of that word, anyway?
I prefer assholishness....

I will be addressing the settlement, disappointing as it is, in tomorrow’s piece.
Jordan cannot even wear a jacket. He looks jerky as if he does not belong. What a jerk.
