I have been following Jay on SS ever since I stumbled on one of his amazing and informative posts a year and a half ago - but I had no idea what a polymath he is! Happy b’day Jay, from a huge fan! And George Takei, I have been a fan forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

There is much better, informative, credible and factual news on Substack than we can ever hope to get on mainstream media. Mainstream media has failed Democracy by giving its readers shoddy journalism, with only a few exceptions. I’m calling out The NY Times especially. I’m really grateful to George, Jay and others I pay for subscriptions. 🙏🏼

I feel so much better informed since discovering Substack. I read both of you, plus Heather, Joyce and Mary, to get the facts. Thank you, both. And happiest of birthdays to you, Jay.

Happy Birthday!!! I happened upon you when you were posting about the war in Ukraine. Then you stopped and decided to concentrate on politics. I was disappointed but I kept up with your posts. Now between you for the legal side and Heather Cox Richardson for the historical side, I am much calmer about what's going on. After tfg was elected, I was so depressed that I couldn't go on Facebook in the evening or I would never go to sleep. Finally I decided to do something constructive and joined a local Democrat club. Besides making contributions to various candidates, our club writes postcards at each election. I was proud that the elections in Georgia and Wisconsin went for the Democrats. I felt like our postcards did some good! Thank you so much (both of you) for posting all the information that you do!

I live where voting has been all mail-in for umpty years. When controversies started, I looked into the security arrangements. They are rock solid and answer all the uninformed complaints about how mail in voting MUST encourage fraud. In fact, we have had absolutely minimal fraud the whole time the system has been in effect. Same goes for drop boxes. They simply can't be used the way folks say they must be. About the only thing you could put in a drop box that would mess up votes would be a pancake-thick slice of dog poop.

And we get our results fast. None of this two tiered crap. I don't know if they input the votes as they get them, keeping them secure and not announced, or if they just have a really fast way of tabulating them.

In short, with the proper security ALL states should have mail in voting. No more late night surprises. No more having to come up with an excuse to vote absentee. No more lines, with or without water being provided. Above all, no more voter suppression. If you are registered you get a ballot. Only you can vote on it. And you can drive up to deposit it any time in the couple of weeks before election day.

But what would the GOP DO if there really was a secure and simple way to vote???

Wish I could give this to you as a birthday present, but have a Cake-full day anyway.

It's amazing how recently this whole thing started. And I am so so grateful that you accepted the challenge and help us everyday to understand and not fear the current chasm and craziness. You never fail to calm my nerves and even make me laugh. You are one of the only news sources I trust. Much love to you on your birthday and pets to your sweet little girl.

Happy birthday Jay! Thank you for sharing your time and talent with us. George, we met at a Star Trek convention in Albuquerque, N.M. waaaaay back in the 70's and unfortunately I've lost the autographed picture, but it is a fond memory, and I'm grateful.

Great post. I appreciate both you guys. One question: it’s so obvious the ‘red wave’ comes from how ballots are counted. Are there efforts afoot to correct this? It give tremendous unnecessary power to the other side.

I’ve been very fortunate to have had my daughter and sister demand that I join the rest of the world 🌎 and get into the digital age ,they helped me to become semi proficient using my IPad and I’m getting better slowly. When I got going I stumbled on this sub stack and recognized your name George , I thought let’s see what’s happening! Poked around a bit and liked what I read ,never had a second thought about it,joined up and don’t regret a thing ! I look forward to reading something interesting and new , and not worrying if it’s a lie or propaganda! Went on to join a few other stacks and am enjoying them all! Thanx Guys good thing you got going here !Oh happy birthday Jay ! Many more brother 🌞🌈 p.s. I got the substack by pushing a button I didn’t want to,I’m keeping it for a bit longer, I might become more proficient and actually open it up ,need a little more time and confidence, who knows what you can do unless your willing to give it a shot! You guy’s are a great example! ☮️

Living in Virginia I'm used to the small, red, rural counties coming in first, giving the republicans the lead. They we wait for the heavily-populated blue counties (mostly in the northern tip by DC) to start rolling in. If the Democratic margin is large enough, as it was in 2016 and 2020, the Democrats win. If not, like in 2021, the republicans pull it out.
