Dear Friends, Advocates and Activists,
A leaked e-mail from a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper documents the remarkably cruel measures Governor Greg Abbott has instituted at the border to deter crossings. These include hidden razor wire traps, the withholding of water even in extreme heat, and orders to push migrants—including children and infants—back into the Rio Grande where they might drown.
According to the e-mail, the razor wire has already caused grave injury to migrants, including children and pregnant women.
The sight of razor wire to corral innocent human beings has echoes for me personally when similar wire surrounded the Japanese American internment camps of my youth.
Never again.
President Biden must step in and ban the use of such cruel tactics. Immigration policy must be set at the federal level, and the federal government must take action.
Please join me in urging the Biden Administration to act.
Beto O'Rourke rightly called these "medieval drowning devices designed to ensnare & mutilate," and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condemned these tactics as "abhorrent" and "despicable."
I wish I could say I was surprised that Governor Abbott has resorted to such inhumane tactics in his anti-immigrant crusade, but increasingly, cruelty is the point for today's GOP.
The White House must do more than just issue statements condemning the practice. It must act.
Sign here to join me in urging President Biden to end these inhumane practices against migrants in Texas.
Abbott should be arrested and shipped off to The Hague. This is a crime against Humanity.

President Biden, this cruel and inhumane use of deadly barriers and actions is in violation of international laws and treaty agreements and must be stopped. And more to the point, Texas certainly shares a border with Mexico, but the simple fact of the matter is that the Federal border of the USA takes precedence over and above any individual states' borders, therefore Texas' border is subject to Federal authority and must be brought in line with acceptable methods of control.
